Besides syrup, lime filtrate which had sour taste had become admixture in food or other drink, like jamu (tonic made of medicinal herbs). In fact, lime not only become fresh drink but also had benefits in health. Lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) is a clump plant with many branches. This plant often plant in the yard and garden.

The height can reach until six meters. The leaf is egg round shaped. The flower shape is like star with white color. The stem is hard wooden, and usually bear fruit after 2.5 years. Lime contains citric acid, amino acid (triptophan, licyne), essential oil (citral, limonen, felandren, lemon camphor, cadinen, gerani-lasetat, linali-lasetat, actylaldehide, nnildehide) resin, Glycoside, citronella acid, fat, calcium, phosphor, iron, sulfur, vitamin B1 and vitamin C.

The sour taste of lime can help you to clean nicotine which sticks on teeth and smoker. The essential oils inside the lime used to treat dysentery, constipation, hemorrhoids, disordered menstruation, diphtheria, acne, headache or vertigo, throatiness, cough, body odour, appetizer, prevent hair loss, dandruff, flu, fever, obesity, tonsil, nosebleed, and nose inflammation.

From recent study showed, lime also had benefits to prevent calculus, especially calcium idiopathy calculus. From the study also known that lime contains high citrate, while many calculus sufferer had low citrate level. They said the citrate level in local lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) had 10 times higher than tangerine, and six times higher than sweet orange. The citrate content can reach until 55.6 gram per kg.

Generally, citrate acid level in urine of calculus disorder had the lowest content in the night and early day. So, better consume lime soon after dinner. Lime filtrate consumed after dinner reported doesn’t make plaint flank. Filtrate from two limes is diluted in two glass of water.

Drink this lime mixture can reduce and prevent calcium calculus. But, preventation and treatment of this disorder only can be done by restrict salt consumption or salty food, had enough calcium intake, and consume low phosphate protein.
